I tried to return, for a store credit, several items that my daughter got for her birthday. After scanning my license (and the merchandise had tags and was not worn), it was determined I was unable to return anything and not to attempt a return for 180 days.

I called the telephone number provided and was told it was due to not having a receipt. I called Customer Service and was told the same thing.

I am not a customer of TCP, nor do I shop and return at any store, so I am quite baffled by the inability to return the items and to be "Banned", for lack of better word, from returning items for 180 days. It is a *** company if this is the way they act.

You are 100% right. I had same experience. Worst customer experience ever.

Learned the TRE system they have at the childrens place is also at Marshalls and a few other stores and they're all interlinked. If you have ever returned without a receipt to any of those stores you're already in the system and only have 3 non receipt returns a year.

I am having the same exact problem. I put a complaint into the company and the BBB, but it wasn't until I went onto their website (TCP) today that I read their return policy and as of October 2013 they no longer take a return without a receipt.

Unfortunately, the store manager never let me in on this. If they put this policy in affect, then they should automatically include a gift receipt, for people like us that need to exchange (because of a size issue) after receiving it as a gift.

Now I need to contact the gift giver and find out what store it was bought at, the approximate date and how they paid in addition to what they paid for them.

Yes, the thing happen to me today, try to exchange for different size and the denied because no receipt. I called customer service, was on hold for 30min and then customer service was worst. All I wanted to do is exchange the size, now I'm stuck with clothes that doesn't fit my daughter.

It is definitely bs. I tried to return presents that both my children got for their birthdays and were denied. Definitely will not be shopping here ever again.

DO NOT SHOP AT THE CHILDRENS PLACE....i have spent thousands of dollars on clothes at this store. When my daughter tried to EXCHANGE outfits for something in another size, she is continuously denied.

I will never shop at this store again.

I have called their Customer service Dept who is unwilling or unable to assist. DO NOT SHOP here for your childrens clothes.

After a certain dollar amount the TRE automatically denies a return. Too many people steal from one store and go to another to return the merchandise and get free merchandise for themselves.

It is a precautionary measure. Next time maybe someone will be smart and get a gift receipt!

I understand that the company must protect themselves but I HAD a receipt and I had the same problem! They are truly a bad company.

Next time someone should get a receipt, however, since the policy was put in place the gift receipt should automatically be given to the purchaser. Especially, if the purchaser was giving it as a gift and does not know the policies (in this case an 80 year old Grandma).

So what happens in this case.

The children are not able to wear the clothing because it's a size to small and rather than exchange for a bigger size they deny and get to keep the money the customer paid,in exchange for an item that is not usable?

Same issue in Chicago. I was not even doing a return but an exchange for larger sizes. Horrible Customer Service!

This is there policy to save money by not taking back merchandise. This company is full of *** they saved millions since they started there ( TRE System ).

It's okay for them to take your money but when it's comes down to them giving it back its a problem.

Worst company ever look at upper management came from Gap inc. and they didn't want him.

The children's place is absolutely the worst company ever. What kind of place deny exchange of different style or size w receipt during Xmas return period.

Can only exchange husky to husky, why? Cuz my kid swims in your husky size and you don't sell that in store? Children's clothe sizes are all over the place from brand to brand.

10 pairs of pants wasted. Never shop at TCP ever again!!!!
